Caroline Glemann is a jewelry designer and artist currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. A self-taught artisan, Caroline has been creating jewelry for 10 years. Caroline's educational back-ground, based in the fine arts and the study of classical music, provided a creative foundation for her to approach jewelry making as a medium for design. In 2000, she co-founded a jewelry design studio and showroom under the name Studio 174 with Michael Fitzgerald. Caroline's unique works are featured in a number of NYC boutiques, galleries and private collections.
Commercial endeavors range from style lines for fashion markets to custom designed wedding bands, to one-of-a kind commissioned works. Caroline's teaching experience includes workshops at the 92nd street YWCA in Manhattan and at the Arts Workshop Program at the Newark Museum in New Jersey. Caroline currently teaches classes and workshops in Brookyln, NY, at Studio 174 for aspiring jewelry designers.
Caroline is available by appointment for those wishing to commission work or peruse her current collection. You can also see more of her work at her website liloveve.com.
"My interest in design is reflective of the extremes that make up my visual landscape. I am especially interested in the relationship between natural landscapes and urban environments. In my work, this is reflected by stylizations of organic motifs as they relate to abstract shapes and clean lines. The contrast between the emotional starkness of an empty city block and the lush undergrowth of forest emerges as unexpected patterns, one sometimes appearing (metaphorically) from the shadows of another design. In the process of creating jewelry, I am finding the connection and harmony
between the elements that influence my perceptions. I want my jewelry to reflect an intuitive design sensibility, and to create pieces that can be worn as an extension or expression of individuality. I am looking to balance two distinct sides of personal adornment; dress up that is socially inspired, for public display, and ornamentation that is a deeply personal signature of style, something worn simply for oneself. My goal is to continue to evolve artistically, and to express in my work values that inspire me while developing a successful business that integrates and nurtures these aspects."
